New Horizons in Positive Change

The newest addition to the CPC workshop series, Advances in AI is a topic-driven forum for exploring new horizons and key questions that make a different in the successful design and delivery of AI. Combining presentations from national thought leaders with thoughtful reflection on individual participants' projects, Advances in AI deepens and expands your ability to design and lead AI initiatives resulting in accelerated change with substantiated results. Topics for this year's forum include:

• Facilitation Appreciative Inquiry Style: We will offer ideas and tools related to a full range of facilitation processes, from establishing ground rules to inviting full voice dialogue, and supporting large group decision making. Together we will examine how to maintain an appreciative stance, ask questions to bring out the best of conversations and collaboration, and “Be Appreciative Inquiry” as a facilitator.

• Hunter Douglas “Ten Years Later”: HDWFD’s President and HR Director will be on hand to share their rich ten-year history with Appreciative Inquiry, including how they celebrated the tenth anniversary of the broadly acclaimed Focus 2000 initiative.

• Appreciative Inquiry and Participatory Planning: Corporation for Positive Change associate Barbara Lewis and leaders of the award-winning Focus on Longmont initiative will show you how to build a sense of ownership among hundreds and even thousands of community members, ensuring broad-based commitment to community-based planning.

• Futurists’ Forecasts and the Call to Appreciative Inquiry: Explore forecasts of leading futurists, and consider the implications of current forecasts for your work with Appreciative Inquiry.  Hear how futurists’ forecasts have encriched strategic planning processes.

Prerequisites: Previous attendance at a Foundations-level Appreciative Inquiry workshop is recommended. Experience applying the Appreciative Inquiry approach to at least one project is also required.
